La Vila Olímpica del Poblenou
Those who are more interested in modern art and architecture should check out on the La Vila Olímpica del Poblenou, which is a relatively new neighborhood of Barcelona city. It is being termed relatively new because it was constructed towards the end of the 1980s and the early parts of the 1990s. The construction of this locality was done keeping an eye on the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
Those who are conversant with the history of this locality will tell you that Albert Puigdomenec, David Mackay, and Oriol Bohigas did the design of the same.
Prior to its development, this area was more of an industrialized and working class residential belt. However, once the new structures went up, the entire scenario has changed and it has now become a fashionable residential zone too. One can easily spot out the new apartments in this locality because of their build style.
Do not miss out viewing the main campus of the Pompeau Fabra University, which is situated between this locality and the Parc de la Ciutadella. If you gaze in the sky, you cannot but miss viewing Torre Mapfre and Hotel Arts… both of which are modern structures and are 144 meters tall.
Also, keep your eyes open for a massive metal sculpture by Frank Gehry. When there is nothing else to do at night, check out the Casino Barcelona and try out your luck over there.
